[Sherlock has what is called a ‘death wish.’ It’s what’s kept him around Jim for this long.]

I beg your pardon?

[But he does have the manners not to say ‘what the fuck kind of greeting was that?]

`of course you do

[Ah, there’s the casual arrogance that the little fish princess wears like a ballgown- she sneers, which does rather interesting things to the set of her teeth, and her fins flare, claws tapping a beat of four against her leg.]

[He smiles right back, that special mix of reverent and tempted to bite her.]

»i found 4n 4lien

»she looked just like you

[He is just so sweet, really. It’s darling, sometimes. Well, most of the time.]

sunshineandsemtex:

[This one is adorable indeed, though Jim keeps that thought far far off his face, simply nodding, humming a quiet little approval simply to see how she reacts.]

[Her smile widens, and she all but preens- of course he thinks she looks nice. She always looks nice. She is so ridiculously beautiful it hurts, and this necklace is wonderful, and she wants it. And if this were Alternia, she would simply take it, but it isn’t, and she does like this human well enough. So, she turns from the mirror to Jim, raising her chin and still smiling.]

[It should probably be noted that the little Empress is not overly fond of visitors, and even less fond of ugly pink humans taller than herself. She bares her teeth, tipping less toward smile and more toward threat, and warbles, a wavering warning of a noise deep in her throat.]

[I’m sure he’d be quite pleased to hear that. Jim’s always been certain that he’d transcend the limits of humanity anyway. He takes it just as delicately, fingers nimbly undoing the clasp. Signalling his intentions clearly, he does as asked, reclasping the necklace with a gentleness that belies the violence that can be so very inherent in his being. a step back, and he’s producing a mirror for her to examine the result.]

[Another pleased little warble wavers in her throat, and she smiles, baring her sharp little sharks teeth at her reflection with a kind of cultivated vanity.]

`what do you think

sunshineandsemtex:

[What Jim isn’t meant to hear Jim doesn’t hear. At least. Not until it’s useful. The pen he’s inking in the lines he’d so carefully traced is deposited easily, gracefully, and he nods, voice quiet but not quite so quiet, an adaptation and a statement all in the cool measured tones used.]

Of course. [He gestures towards it.] If I may.

[He has a good voice, and it’s decided- when the Empire crushes Earth, this antique shop will be left standing, because she likes it.]

`of course

[Handing him the necklace delicately, she regards him with a look just as cool and measured as his tone.]

[Get rid of the boring ones and this is how humans do act, smooth and quiet and with the capacity for immediate violence at any second. He’s mocking up a more effective version of the rune for silence he’d been using in the back for the past few months, having finally gotten around to dismantling the paneling that morning. It’s interesting enough work, but he does find that this visitor is more interesting still, especially with the silence that so few knew how to keep.]

[And she keeps the silence right up until she spots a necklace of tarnished gold and pretty fuchsia gems, just sitting there. It’s almost an instant reaction, the way she lights up- gills flaring, a tiny warbled croon of excitement that Jim is probably not meant to hear escaping her. She turns it over in her claws, crosses the space toward Jim in a few short steps, and speaks, not much more than a whisper.]

horrificheiress started following you

[The bell tinkles. The man behind the counter looks up. A silent second is spent in observation, and then he’s smiling faintly, nodding, and going back to his business, though half an eye is kept on this newest being to pass through the doors of his shop.]

[This is how humans should act, really. No gawking, no gaping, no too-loud yelling and unattractive noises. She’d been curious what ‘antiques’ meant, when she’d walked in, and it seems to mean old and shiny, which she’s also pleased by. All in all, her opinion of humans has officially gone up, and she though she doesn’t deign to speak to the shop owner, she does smile to herself as she picks through the shelves, careful not to accidentally shatter anything in her claws.]
